The Town of Hayesville

    

     As the county seat of Clay County, Hayesville has small-town charm with the beauty of mountains, lakes, rivers and streams. Opportunities for camping, golf, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and water sports are plentiful. 

    

     The Historic red brick Court House that was built in 1888 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in the center of the town square surrounded by numerous small stores, shops and restaurants with long porch covered sidewalks and is the centerpiece of community festivals, celebrations, and get-togethers. Also on the square are two Museums, the Library and the Post Office. Coming soon is a turn of the century Pioneer Village.

            

     Lake Chatuge, which covers 7,200 acres with 133 miles of shoreline, lies half in North Carolina and half in Georgia and is totally surrounded by mountains. The lake offers many recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, and camping.  On any summer day, fisherman, boaters, swimmers can be found enjoying the crystal blue water together. From Bass Tournaments to simple relaxation, Lake Chatuge has it all!

     

     If Golf is your game, Hayesville is proud to have 2 beautiful courses.  Chatuge Shores offers 18 holes for the public with 150 acres and hole 8 bordering Lake Chatuge. The Ridges At Mountain Harbour boasts a Ben Wright, 18 hole, challenging course in a scenic mountain, country club setting. Also near is the award winning Brasstown Valley Golf Club in Young Harris GA.

  

     There are three hospitals within 20 miles and many other medical and dental facilities.

    

     The Restaurants are numerous in Hayesville, Hiawassee GA (12 miles) and Blairsville GA (20 miles) and don’t miss the famous Georgia Mountain Fair and the John C Campbell Folk School.

    

     All of this is just a two hour drive from the major cities of Atlanta GA, Chattanooga TN, and Asheville NC.
